GEOHEX to hold Novel Coatings Webinar

Thu, 20 April, 2023

The GEOHEX team are hosting an online event dedicated to the topic of ‘Heat Exchange and Durability Performance of Novel Coatings’ on 10 May 2023.

The webinar, which will take place from 13:00-14:00 GMT, will investigate the important subject of maximising heat transfer and the resistance to scaling and corrosion for heat exchangers.

The webinar will detail how an experimental setup has been created to test material samples with a variety of different surface coatings to represent a range of heat exchanger surfaces.

Heat transfer performance has been evaluated through measuring temperatures and flow, allowing the team to classify different coating solutions and seek potential improvements.

In addition, the sample surfaces were analysed to determine their resistance to corrosion so as to evaluate potential benefits for protecting heat exchanger materials under real-world industrial conditions.

A series of experimental trials compared samples with either stainless steel or carbon steel substrates, using several types of surface coatings to assess their performance.

The webinar will feature speakers from the University of Iceland - Professors Halldór Pálsson and Sigrun Nanna Karlsdottir – and you can find out more and register for the event, here.
